Supervision with Amelia
A Note About Clinical Supervision
I am currently developing a clinical supervision component within my practice and am opening a limited number of spaces for counsellors who are developing their clinical practice.
With over 13 years of experience in counselling and private practice, I offer a warm, collaborative approach to supervision that is grounded in clinical experience, thoughtful case conceptualization, and respect for each counsellor's developing professional identity.
Supervision may be particularly helpful for counsellors who are:
Early in their counselling career or transitioning into independent practice
Developing confidence in clinical decision-making, case conceptualization, and treatment planning
Working with complex or challenging client presentations
Navigating ethical, professional, or boundary-related questions
Looking for space to reflect on their therapeutic work and develop their professional identity
My clinical background includes CBT, DBT, person-centred therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, emotion-focused approaches, mindfulness, and expressive/art-based approaches. My practice primarily focuses on adults and includes experience working with a range of presenting concerns and with clients involved in ICBC-related claims.
I also bring extensive experience working with Chinese communities in Greater Vancouver and across Canada, including first- and second-generation immigrants and international students. This work has given me particular experience in supporting clients as they navigate cultural identity, family and intergenerational dynamics, acculturation, belonging, and the complexities of building a life between cultures.
My approach to supervision is collaborative and developmental. I believe effective supervision is not simply about finding the "right" intervention for a client, but about developing the counsellor's ability to think clinically, recognize patterns, tolerate uncertainty, make thoughtful decisions, and understand their own work within the therapeutic relationship.
Supervision can be arranged on an ongoing basis, with the frequency and focus determined by the counsellor's level of experience and professional needs.
At this stage, I am accepting a limited number of supervisees as I continue to develop my clinical supervision practice and pursue additional supervision training and certification.
If you are a counsellor interested in exploring whether this would be a good fit, you are welcome to contact me for an initial conversation.

Amelia Wu
